Diego González Gómez (Guadalajara, 1994) is a visual artist with a BFA from the Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado “La Esmeralda.” His practice explores tenderness as an ambivalent relationship with what we perceive as fragile or defenceless, capable of simultaneously eliciting impulses of care, identification, control and violence. His works construct scenes and sensory situations in which these affective tensions emerge, revealing the contradictions in how we perceive and respond to the vulnerability of others.
In 2026, he received a Jóvenes Creadores grant from the Sistema de Apoyos a la Creación y Proyectos Culturales (SACPC), following a PECDA Jalisco grant in 2023. In 2021, he received support through the Centro Nacional de las Artes’ Ecos Sonoros programme. In 2026, he participated in APE Camp, an Arts Council Korea programme held in Seoul. His work has been presented in solo exhibitions at Casa Museo López Portillo, Galerie Gänge, Estudio Croma and Espacio Cabeza, as well as in group exhibitions and projects in Mexico, the United States, Spain, Germany and France. He has participated in exhibitions at the Museo de Arte de Zapopan (MAZ), Centro Nacional de las Artes, Complejo Cultural Los Pinos, Ex Convento del Carmen, Museo Raúl Anguiano (MURA), Museo de las Artes de la Universidad de Guadalajara (MUSA) and Museo de Geología de la UNAM, among others. Since 2024, he has been part of the team at Espacio Cabeza, an independent contemporary art space based in Guadalajara.
