This piece is a fountain inspired by another fountain: the one located outside the Raúl Anguiano Museum, in the small plaza leading to the Torres Bodet Theatre, which is itself a replica of the *Pila Seca* from the former town of Tlaquepaque. In the original fountain, stone fish hold the basins and support a pair of stone children playing at the top. Both fountains bear witness to the urban, social, and political transformations that shape and determine the necessary circulation of water for the inhabitants of a city. This is the mandate of a fountain: to maintain flow, to stand as an example of continuity, to provide an ever-fresh spring, for thirst is a threat to life. For a child, a stuffed animal serves a similar purpose, sustaining the promise of an unconditional presence that keeps at bay the terrifying possibility of abandonment. As long as the water flows, time remains eternal for the stone children who play at the pinnacle of a fountain.
